Christie’s Rolls out Vintage Rolexes.
An amazing collection of 77 vintage and classic Rolex watches is coming up for auction at Christie’s Important Watches sale in New York on Dec. 14th. Want our timely advice? Forego the most expensive models – a couple of early ’50s triple calendars topping out at $80,000 estimate-wise – and hone in on this perfectly patina’d Cosomograph Daytona (pictured), circa 1969. The model in question is known as the “Paul Newman” for the late, great actor and racecar driver who always wore one. Expected to fetch upwards of $50,000, it’s certainly not cheap, but believe us when we say it will only increase in value – not too mention be ten times cooler than some diamond-encrusted piece of crap.
