From ‘Fashion’s Night Out’ to Mercedes-Benz’s Fashion Week, a runway primer (with 9/11, aptly, in-between).
Now in its third year, Fashion’s Night Out: a city-wide street party for the style set sponsored largely by Vogue, proved that it was more than OK to get your style duds and party on during the weekend of 9/11. Last year, there was palpable electricity in the air (and some tears) as crowds hit the streets, shops, nightclubs and department stores while the beams of commemorative light shot through the sky. It showed however ephemerally it might have seemed, that Manhattanites are a tough rubber-ball bunch, and the city remained stronger than ever.
The big night out is Thursday, September 8th, and party crashing, we advise. It’s a looser, more bohemian affair than the Big Top that is Lincoln Center (formerly Bryant Park was the spot). The hoo-hah ticket is going to be Tommy Hilfiger’s 25th anniversary (man, it’s been THAT long?). And J. Crew (Sept. 13th at Studio) has justifiably entered the tents too. Tommy’s Men’s will be fun, transpiring at the Chelsea Market’s High Line entrance. The women’s tri-fecta will be Sept. 13th at Lincoln Center.
