New ‘tequila’ bar wows us in every way.
Known as “the nectar of the lightning gods,” fermented pulque provides the inspiration to New York’s coolest new Mexican cantina: Pulqueria. Quietly opened a couple of weeks ago, the Lower Bowery hideaway is as good to look at as it is to eat. Cloudy and sweet, pulque is the hoity-toity cousin of mezcal, also made from agave plants. We’ll let the photos and menu do the talking. Despite that we wanted to keep this a best-kept secret spot, it’s simply just not fair. Go look for it at: 11 Doyers Street, perhaps one of the least known addresses in lower Manhattan.
