The Los Angeles Conservancy’s Modern Skyline walking tour explores the evolution of the Bunker Hill area and the Central Business District’s skyscrapers, plazas, and public art. Among the buildings encountered on the tour are the elegant Beaux Arts Biltmore Hotel from 1923, the Central Library at 333 South Hope Street (whose contribution to public art is a 42-foot high Alexander Calder sculpture), the Standard Hotel, the Bonaventure Hotel, and the Wells Fargo Center. In this bustling district in particular, the architectural history is the city’s history.
