The L Word Equals Luscious

SoHo spot finally finds its niche in The Dalloway

We loved Lani Kai, the Polynesian-inspired cocktail lounge formerly housed in this beleaguered Broome Street space. But to us it was too gloomy for being a Mai Tai-one-on watering hole.

Enter the gals of The Dalloway, who last month quietly took the two-level lounge and made it into an upscale-but-cozy spot (working fireplace, candlelit tables, chandeliers), while keeping the luscious libations and small plate dishes for sharing. One of the owners is a star on Showtime’s “The Real L Word” (we’re sure that won’t be a drawing card).

While it’s a lesbian-friendly vibe–think Gertrude Stein and Virginia Woolf, not Henrietta Hudson–all truly are welcome. Looks like the ladies are dressing up for going out too. Nice thing.
